TNB to sue WWF over Earth Hour

KUALA LUMPUR — Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia’s premier energy provider today announced that they were taking legal action against the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) for organising the Earth Hour, a global movement that makes a stand against climate change by turning off all non-essential lights and electrical equipment for an hour every year.

In a Press conference, TNB president and CEO Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohd Noh said that the annual worldwide symbolic gesture, which this year would be observed this Saturday at 8.30pm, is nothing more than an ‘arrogant and thoughtless viral movement’ aimed to hurt power companies such as TNB.

CHE KHALIB: These people are inconsiderate
“Obviously these green-minded fellows think they’re really cute, organising such an irresponsible campaign,” said Che Khalib angrily. “They say ‘turn off your lights for an hour’ and people do. I bet that really makes them feel all powerful.

“What these western colonialists fail to grasp is how such drastic action affects the poor companies like us. One hour of unused electricity means an hour of wastage for TNB. Did you know that last year’s Earth Hour costed us millions in unrealised revenue?” asked Che Khalib, seething.

“How do you think that affected our production? We couldn’t exactly turn off our power plants just because a large number of Malaysians turn off their lights at the same time. So imagine all that wasted energy.

not very smart, is he? i mean, it's like saying if you reduce cutting tress, furniture shops will lose out; if you don't skin animals for fur, fashion houses will lose out.

i say throw this man out.

CYBERIA DUNCE - dirty houses? let's blame it on the cats.

STUPID

at our cyberia condo complex, there aren't many stray cats to be found. it's probably because we took most of them in to be spayed/neutered and rehomed. :P.
so far, we've only seen 3 - 1 ayoi look-alike (they could be brothers!), 1 white one and 1 black one.

ayoi-look-alike is the one we've seen the most loitering around the area. so every day, we put some kibbles for him to feed on at hidden corners of the apartment. when we saw him three days ago, he didn't look too good. the top of his face was covered with marks - we thought it was mange. so the plan was to take him to the vet for mange shot when we have the time.

yesterday, however, a neighbour told us that the strays were caught by the condo management and dumped elsewhere because some people complained that the cats make the place dirty (???), and that it's too moch for the cleaners to clean the mess made by the cats (???).

PENIPU BESAR!!!

it's a big fat lie, we can tell you that for sure. first, there aren't many cats around. how much of a mess can those cats make? and second, that place is dirty because of some STUPID, UNCIVILIZED, SO-CALLED UNI EDUCATED PEOPLE DUMPING THRASH FROM THEIR WINDOW AND BALCONY! not to mention that these people are probably the ones responsible for the number of dumped animals in the condo area, but that's another story that deserves another entry altogether.

BANGANG!

we are worried about ayoi-look-alike's fate.

special kitties for special people

we have two very special kitties at home, trixie-belle and lurvy. they have a neurological condition called cerebral hypoplasia, which is a more politically correct term for "spastic".

what is cerebral hypoplasia? what happened to kitties with cerebral hypoplasia?
the following is taken from eHow.com.

"Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) is a feline neurological disease in which kittens are born with an underdeveloped cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance, muscles and coordination. The disease is permanent and cannot be treated, but is not usually life-threatening. The severity of CH can range from very mild to extreme. Cats with CH have problems with balance and muscle control, which can affect the cat's ability to walk, run and jump. Caring for a cat with CH requires attentiveness and preparation, but conscientious owners can usually help these cats live long, healthy lives."

we love trixie-belle and lurvy to death, but being a rescuer with 6 other resident kitties at home, we'd prefer it if they could have more love and attention. due to their condition, they get bullied a lot by the 6 residents cats at home, so at the moment, they are roomed together with other rescued cats. being roomed like that means having less attention from us, and that's not good for them. but for their safety, that's the only solution so far.

is it hard taking care of them? no, it's not. both are trained to poo and pee in litter box. to help improve their condition, we give them vitamin b1 and b12 everyday. so far, so good.

so if you're a keen animal lover, with a lot to spare - your time and love - you might be the right person for them.

please call us for more info.

meet the moggies

we haven't been updating this blog for a loooooong loooooong time. *shy*
so we thought... why not start afresh? let's start over!!!

moggiesplace is a non-charity cats rescue-to-rehome shelter for stray cats.
We don't have much but we try our best to provide for the kitties we have under our care. Yes, we really do.

We don't really call ourselves as fosterers as we hardly have enough space for other kitties rescued by others. Most of the time, we only have room enough for all the cats we rescued, and believe us when we say, we do have that many cats/kittens at home. This we know because every single person would give a jaw-dropping "WHAT??!!!" when we told them the number of kitties we have at home.
The number might not be as impressive as some would have at their home, but with the size of our home (which is not big at all), we do have quite a number at home.
We'd like to keep the numbers to a healthy rate - healthy meaning that the house should be clean and orderly and that each kitty will have enough food, care and attention.

The rescued kitties are fed premium brand food and filtered water, given proper medical care when required and fully treated for fleas, fungus etc. More often than not, their food costs more than ours. T___T.

The kitties rescued will be given up for adoption to good homes FREE OF CHARGE. However, please bear in mind that if the kitty adopted is not neutered and vaccinated yet, the new owner will have to bear the cost for vaccination and neutering. We strongly recommend neutering for all the kitties adopted from moggiesplace.

If you want to contribute to the welfare of our rescued kitties, you're welcome to do so. Below is our wishlist. :)

the moggies wishlist

1. Clumping kitty litter - our kitties love Fussie Cat rose scented
2. Royal Canin Kitten 36 kibbles
3. Blackwood Adult Feline kibbles
4. Kitties toys
5. Kitties bed or pad
7. Scratching post or pad
8. A nice land plot and funds for us to do this seriously!

Love,
the moggies and their furry dungdungs
